All we can be sure of is that nobody knows everything.

Carlos was not there when the book was written. So, he can't know what the right answer is, EVEN IF HE GETS IT RIGHT.

Most people here tend to enjoy the looseness of the doctrine, and if it were more specific then it would, as has already been mentioned, cut some people out. Doubtless in the future people will produce books about Jedi Teachings, but those books will not form official doctrine, they would only help inform some Jedi about some of the teachings.

A key aspect of Jediism is understanding relationships, not just between yourself and your friends, but you and your environment in a metaphysical sense (through the Force), and understanding also that the more one tries to control, the more control will inevitably slip away.

That said, one of the joys of the way this faith is currently structured is that if you (as an individual) want it more strict or more cohesive or more whatever for you, it can be. You just can't expect everyone else to follow along with it, because it won't suit everyone.
