Aye Scythe, I agree and the only reason why I posted what I did was because I have already been there myself and shall not return.

More replys then I expected but its all good. The idea of this topic came with a past inncodent that happened to me many years ago. (And I do mean many) and thats why I seek wisdom from others higher in age and all wisdom. Yes we humans, creatures, beings have no control over anything nothing. Nothing is our to control we are just here if we had control over anything we would be drunk with the given power and before you know it we go insane.

Thanks for bringing up this topic, I learned much by reading all the posts here.. I feel it was quite educational and very enlightening...

I think that it also brings up some very interesting philosphical questions such as life after death and such.

While Necromancy is an extreme example of the dark arts... I think another good question are those \"grey\" areas... where is the line so to speak? Where does light and dark get a bit fuzzy, and how do you discern where the line is?

[quote]alright did not really want to go here with this post so early, but my hand has been somewhat forced. In necromancy it deals with using the dead to do biddings. It is more along the lines of dark magick. However the shell that is used is just that a shell. The presence that is in the body only personifies the identity that was once there. It is not the return of the original personality that was there before death.

Thanks for clearing that up... that makes a lot more sense... I did not know that... my thought on it was that after I die, if I was pulled out of my afterlife existance by someone to do their bidding, I would be rather irritated to say the least...LOL!

I would suggest not delving in to the things that are of the \"darkside\" the consequences are never good for anyone, trust me I know!

I would also suggest not delving into the whole \"communicating with the dead\" thing... I used a Ouija board as a teenager, and I ended up being stalked by something... not fun!

To all those that read this post, please be aware that my apprentice has shown curiosity and not meant for a spark of debate. I have spoken with Wander and he was only asking a question that needed clarifying. If anyone has or is offended by this post I do apologize, but one can not learn unless the question is asked. If any members have a issue with this post please contact me and not my apprentice.

Thank you and MTFBWY

I think that it was a good question... I do not mean that to invalidate anyone's feelings, please do not think that.

I would never think to say that necromancy and the dark arts are a good thing...

What I mean though is, that the practices do indeed exist... and can lead to some interesting philosophical thought and discussion...

I don't think that by discussing it and being educated on what it is (just what it is, not how to do it mind you) would lead someone to be like \"hey, that's cool, I'll try that\" (at least I would think most people would have more forthought)

Also, as there is a light side and a dark side to the Force, Magik has a dark side and a light side as well... so such discussions may lead to a better, more well-rounded understanding to both Magik, and the Force, as a whole.

A High Priest once told me that Magik was \"not all unicorns and rainbows\"

To acknowledge it is not the same thing as condoning it...

That's my humble opinion anyway...

This is a bit off topic, but I would think... if done civily and in a respectful manner... that debate can be a good thing.

The one thing I have grown to enjoy about this forum is that so many people have so many different perspectives...

I think if done right a good discussion that includes varying viewpoints going bacfk and forth would be very intellectually stimulating, educational, would give people a bigger perspective, and learn more about each other and have a larger understanding and respect for others...

On the other hand, it's possible that someome may responde in the heat of the moment from an emotional reaction without thinking it through, and that can lead to hard feelings and arguments... and that certainly wouldn't be a good thing.

But I think that honest and respectful sharing of ideas through a good-natured debate could be enlightening and healthy.

Just a thought...

I wrote those words, for members to understand that he was just curious and asked a question. I did not want anyone to take offense, but to answer Wander's question without someone reading it wrong. I do apologize if it came across as strong, but some people could have taken offense and I was only looking after my apprentice. I do understand where you are coming from on this issue Lilith. A healthy debate is always a good thing as long as it is kept healthy.

Oh, I didn't think you came off as strong at all... actaully, my little blurb was more about my mind wondering on a different point, then anything else, it wasn't directed at you exexcept what you had said just sparked what I was thinking.
I have been around people, more in person than on boards, and not in this forum, that are so afraid that they may offend someone, that they tend not to discuss anything at all, as they are afraid to upset anyone... even though different points of view on the matter would be expected and also encouraged. So, a lot of times I have witness a lost opportunity for learning and understanding...
That is what I meant about what I said about itbeing a bit off-topic, as I was more responding to a thought that crossed my mind more than what you actually wrote.
Sorry about that

MTFBWY-A,
Christina

All in all this is just a good idea on how certian things happen certian ways. Necromancy shows how the spirit world seems to work under different rules then ours and well this goes to the idea that the after life has a whole different ball game then the world that we, alive, reside in.
