Okay, there's a Christian music festival in Kentucky every year called Ichthus. It's been happening every year since 1970 (it was created as an alternative to Woodstock). It lasts for about a week, and begins next week. I'm going for my first time this year (so if I seem to disappear for a while, that's why), but the reason I'm posting is to see if, by chance, there were any other Jedi attending. If so, post and we could possibly introduce ourselves.

I've returned. First, I'd like to recommend the festival to everyone who likes music and people. Even as someone who isn't a Christian, I had an immense amount of fun. If you are Christian, you'd find it very uplifting. Being outside for a week makes sitting back at my computer seem strange. Well, it's good to be back, I missed you all!

    • How Many Heads Do You Have? (Last post by Jestor)
    • Quote: Quote: Quote: Now can we really call mind2 a mind? It doesn't actually do any thinking, it's a mere model. It observes.... Which is how we should being mind1 as well, right? Not thinking, not judging, just observing... Does it really observe? If I make a robot, or more properly an android, and put a brain in it, but only a model of a brain, all the computer chips and motors being in the central cavity, does this brain observe? If I put the wings of a bird on a elephant, can it fly? Did you build the robot to observe? The 'roomba' robot observes, however elementary, its environment so as to be able to vacuum a room... Or would you make one out of a chunk of clay that does not even have the promise of doing any thinking? Quote: The model of me, inside my head, might move and speak, but only as I see myself doing. The brain or mind in that model doesn't actually do anything. You may perceive your brain or mind translating all those signals, from outside of your mind, but when I perceive my mind working, my brain translating signals from my eyes, translating signals from my brain to my mouth, I do it from my thought processing center, inside the same mind. Sure, someone else said 'levels', so run with that...:) Quote: Your description of how you see your brain, are like looking into a glass box, holding a working model of the room you're in. I have that same room, that same glass box, but all it is is a glass box. If i want to see my thoughts I don't look into the box at my computer, I turn away from the box and look at my computer. If I want to see my vision, I look at my tv, not into the glass box at the miniatures of the room. Perhaps I am not being clear enough...:) Imagine you are watching yourself on tv... You dont really know what the actor is going to do, but you watch it... Its like that... Now, look at it like a video game... You control the guy a bit... You make him pickup a stick, however, you didnt make him crouch down, extend his hand, grasp the stick, and straighten back up... All you did, via the controller, was say, 'grab the stick'... Be the controller...
    • Discussion Thread - SZ's Journal (Last post by Jestor)
    • I will publicly post them here...;) We do not allow others to comment in journals because it gets in the way of the journal being checked... A journal, as we use it here, is not really for discussion... Threads have a way of going off track, and we hope to keep this to a minimum by restricting the posts to the bare minimum... KNights and above, besides the journals owners, are all that is allowed to post in journals...EDIT: and even Knights and above, we ask for it to be done sparingly...;) We delete comments without even reading them... And we have gotten messages from journal owners asking for comments from others to be removed, as well as 'thank you's from them when we beat them to the idea... We cannot allow it in some, and not in others... The discrepancy causes even more work for our already overworked staff... I have answered, what I thought were questions in journals, only to be told publicly, or via PM, that the question was rhetorical, and only there for the student to ask themself... I hope this clears it up for you...:) Any other questions, please feel free to ask.... Also, as this is not about 'Jediism', I have moved it...;) Good luk, and carry on...:)

    • Are there any Indigo Children in the Temple? I am one and I lived with one (my best friend) for a long time. Now that we live in different states, its hard to connect with him like that again. Are there any here? Also, does anyone have any input, comments, ideas, etc. about the Indigo Children? • My Current Absence (V-Tog) (Last post by V-Tog)
    • Quote: It's as if there's some type of "attendance quota" that we all have to "meet". There isn't an attendance quota, right?  Not one for you to worry about ;) But when Teaching Masters are away for more than a week or two without letting anyone know, that's the same as if a teacher took a few weeks off school without telling anyone they weren't going to be coming in... And the same as in any walk of life, when people take on positions of responsibility they are making a commitment to being there to actually fulfil the role that they have agreed to do. So whilst no-one is taking a register and checking that attendance doesn't drop below a certain percentage, it is my duty to be here and, when that is not possible, to ensure that you guys know what's going on and when I'll be back! :)
    • Username and why we use them ? (Last post by soya)
    • I have used so many usernames, things relating to old gods, things from different myths, things from D&D and other games, even names that are just random gobblings of letters that seem to fit together, and are pronounceable in English. I've always wanted a different name, a different life. I never used my real name, because it isn't who I was, it was a name given by my father, because he wanted a little him, so he gave me his name, made me to learn his trade, and only allowed me to enjoy his enjoyments. I have been soya since the middle of 2006, a group of friends didn't like the name I had chosen for myself, so they got together and gave me a new name, more indicative of my personality. I still go by my real name in real life, I get asked if I made it up, or where it's from, what it means, why I changed my name (because it couldn't be something my parents gave me!), everything. I am currently attempting to take my name, make it me, really get people to go "Oh, you're ***?" and not speak about my father. In short, I use my username, because I do not feel a connection to my real name, but I'm trying to change that, and may change to my real name here, shortly, in the future.
