Yes, I'm American, and what sucks is that Orthodox churches are usually there for those of an Orthodox background, like the Russians and Greeks I mentioned. I knew that the ROCOR left the communion, but I wasn't aware that it was such a big deal. Again, nearly all of my experience with Orthodoxy has pertained to books, as I've had very limited contact with Orthodox believers.
